Season After Season

The violent seas have once again calmed
and the monsoon rains have ceased.
The climate has tempered, it warmed,
the earth beneath my soles is sun-kissed.

I found a cotyledon then, a seedling’s sprout
in the brown soil where rain and sunlight spills
It survived the seasons, the floods, the drought
as my heart remained steadfast, with the love it feels.
